LCI students reflect on Rome and Assisi

“The trip to Italy was like building a friendship – Rome was about activities and experiences. And when the friendship was established, then just being in silence in Assisi brought peace and grace.” – Jozef from Slovakia

“I liked St. Peter’s Basilica. It was my favorite.” – Sr. Cecelia from China

“Our trip to Italy was wonderful. For the first time in my life I was at the Vatican and the beautiful city of Rome. My favorite place was our Greek-Catholic Church, St. Sophia, because it is historic for my Church, my country, and my people.” – Halyna from Ukraine

“This pilgrimage gave me more understanding of the Catholic Church and holy places. After visiting Italy, I feel more alive.” – Vitaliy from Kazakhstan

“The audience with Pope Francis was awesome. Assisi was wonderful and quiet, a place for prayer.” – Besim from Kosovo

“It was incredible that we had Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica, behind the baldachino. The most beautiful events in Assisi were the two sunsets – the colors of the sky were amazing!” – Peter from Hungary

“Rome was my favorite place because I visited places where the saints lived, and I saw Pope Francis.” – Irina from Kazakhstan

“I love Assisi – it’s very beautiful and peaceful. Rome has a lot of beautiful churches. The Church of the Holy Spirit was wonderful.” – Iryna from Ukraine

“I really like Rome. I was very excited when I first came to the Vatican. Rome is a city I will definitely visit a second time.” – Artsiom from Belarus
