Sts. Cyril and Methodius Center for Evangelization

Thanks to the support of the Koch Foundation and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, LCI is expanding its outreach beginning this fall. Through a newly founded Sts. Cyril and Methodius Center for Evangelization, LCI will host conferences, seminars, icon courses, retreats, and a mission outreach program. The aim of the Center is to re-evangelize the secularized countries of Eastern and Central Europe and to prepare seminarians, priests, and lay men and women for missionary work. Fr. Joseph Veresh an LCI alumnus of Mukachevo, Ukraine, will head up the new initiative.

Beginning in January 2017, LCI will begin a full-time mission outreach program for young Catholics from the USA. The program will consist of a semester of spiritual and theological formation, language training, and practical experience at the Kartause in Gaming, Austria, followed by a year-long mission in Eastern Europe.

On Gratitude

At the end of her final semester with LCI, Teresa Hess reflects on gratitude for her past three years in Gaming.

KartauseGratitude is defined not only as the quality of being thankful, but the readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.  This perfectly describes my feeling after the past three years working with the LCI: complete thankfulness to those who make LCI a reality and wanting to truly express my appreciation. The most common question I receive when I explain what LCI is and my role in it is, “Wait, how is that possible?” The answer is simple: by the constant time and energy of prayer warriors, generous donors, brave students, and inspiring teachers. Our mission, to rebuild the Church by our personal conversion and ministry to others, only begins in Gaming. Whether you live in Texas or Kazakhstan, your daily sacrifices, prayers, and support are directly influencing our mission and building the body of Christ. It has directly and continues to change the lives of hundreds of students who have become leader in their faith communities. I have had the privilege to be a part of so many of their journeys, and for that I am eternally grateful. Know of my love and prayers for you always.

Growing up in rural China, Julia never had the opportunity to meet a Christian. Choosing English as her major in college changed that. Several of her classes were taught by Catholic teachers from the United States. There was something different about her American teachers, and she decided it must be their faith. Read More »
